Former President Donald Trump expressed criticism of President Joe Biden’s vacation habits, alleging that Biden spends too much time on vacation without doing any actual work. Trump made these remarks during an exclusive interview with Breitbart News at Mar-a-Lago, his resort in south Florida.
Trump suggested that if Biden had simply gone to the beach and let Trump’s policies stand, the country would be in better shape. He specifically mentioned Biden’s recent vacation in the U.S. Virgin Islands, highlighting the amount of time Biden spends on vacation.
Trump contrasted his own approach to vacations during his presidency, stating that when he took time off, he continued working and taking meetings with world leaders and lawmakers. He referred to Mar-a-Lago as the “Southern White House” and emphasized that even when playing golf, he engaged in important work-related discussions.
The former president criticized Biden for reportedly refusing to take phone calls and meet with others during his vacations, claiming that Biden becomes completely unavailable for weeks. Trump argued that when he went on vacation, he remained engaged and available for important discussions.
A report mentioned that in 2023 alone, Biden spent 138 days on vacation, constituting 37% of the year. The report also noted that Biden has spent 417 days on vacation over the course of his entire presidency, accounting for 39% of the time since taking office.
Trump’s comments reflect ongoing political debates about presidential work habits and the perception of Biden’s approach to the presidency. Critics argue that Biden’s extended vacations may contribute to perceptions of disengagement, while supporters may argue that it is essential for leaders to take breaks for rest and rejuvenation.
