It has been noted that former President Donald Trump’s defamation trial resumes in New York on Wednesday, with his accuser E Jean Carroll on the stand testifying about the former president.
The case was brought against the Republican presidential candidate by the former Elle magazine columnist after she accused him of sexually assaulting her in a department store dressing room in the mid-1990s, for which Trump was found liable last year. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing and claims never to have met Carroll.
The defendant showed up in court on Tuesday to watch the jury selection process, but he departed before the opening comments from both sides were given.Aside from that, the presumed GOP presidential nominee is focusing on campaigning in New Hampshire ahead of the crucial primary there next week.
He will be hoping to keep up the momentum after storming to victory in the Iowa caucuses on Monday night.
With over 51% of the vote, Trump led his Republican opponents Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, who came in second and third, respectively, with 21% and 19% of the vote.
After receiving just 8% of the vote, Vivek Ramaswamy suspended his campaign and supported the victor.
Donald Trump, who has been quiet since the avalanche of posts about E Jean Carroll this morning timed to coincide with the commencement of the trial for the second defamation case brought against him, has returned to Truth Social for a quick late afternoon rant.
First, the former president posted:
“I should be in New Hampshire, campaigning and fighting for our Country, and I will be later today, but for now I had to spend time in a Federal Courthouse with a Trump Hating, Radical Left Judge, on a case that is another politically biased WITCH HUNT — ONE DAY AFTER IOWA, AND JUST AHEAD OF THE IMPORTANT NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY. THIS HOAX, WHICH THE “BULLY” JUDGE CHOSE TO HAVE AS TWO TRIALS INSTEAD OF MERGING INTO ONE, IS A DISGRACE, AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT. His former Law Clerk(?) is on the other side. Anyway, I’ll be in New Hampshire at 6:30 P.M., a BIG crowd is waiting. MAGA!!!”
He then added:
“Americans for Chinese Prosperity, a RINO Charles Koch con job that is funding, along with many Democrats and others that aren’t feeling so well right now, is very embarrassed by the poor showing of Nikki “Birdbrain” Haley in yesterday’s Iowa Primary. She placed a distant THIRD, after spending millions of Koch’s largely Inherited and OPM Dollars. I HATE WHAT THEY REPRESENT, OPEN BORDERS AND ALL — SO BAD FOR OUR COUNTRY!!!”
