Many well-known people will be present at Rosalynn Carter’s tribute service. It has been noted that 39th President Jimmy Carter and former first wife Melania Trump seem to have been confirmed, but their eligibility for the Atlanta section of Carter’s services was in doubt via Washington Examiner.
Trump was dubious because she was reportedly a reluctant first lady who declined to show Jill Biden, her successor, around the White House before to her departure. However, Melania Trump will be present Tuesday at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on the Emory University campus, according to confirmation from the Carter Center.
Another question was the status of 99-year-old Jimmy Carter, who has been in hospice care since February in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, a more than two-hour drive from Atlanta. But the Carter Center confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Jimmy Carter is expected to be in attendance as well.
Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter were married for 77 years before she died last week, and they hold the record for longest-married presidential couple.
Other high-profile guests include President Joe Biden and current first lady Jill Biden, along with Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff, former first ladies Laura Bush and Michelle Obama, Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) and Georgia first lady Marty Kemp, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, and several other members of Congress and elected officials.
Rosalynn Carter was first lady from 1977 to 1981, and the Carter Center said she died peacefully, surrounded by her family. Carter leaves behind children Jack, Chip, Jeff, and Amy, along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
