On Saturday, September 23, 2023, the ex-husband stated that the Virginia mother, who was given an almost 80-year prison sentence for the fatal shooting of her two daughters, took their lives because she could no longer manipulate her ex-husband through the children.
Ron Youngblood, whose former spouse Veronica Youngblood was sentenced to 78 years in prison on Friday for the murder of 5-year-old Brooklynn Youngblood and 15-year-old Sharon Castro five years ago, claimed that these horrific killings were a desperate attempt to cause him anguish
“The girls were tools for her, a means to extract what she desired from me,” the 52-year-old former Navy veteran somberly expressed as per New York Post report on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
Back in August 2018, the Youngbloods resided in Virginia and were preparing to relocate to Missouri as a family with their daughters.
Veronica Youngblood backed out of the move at the eleventh hour, expressing her desire to remain in the Old Dominion State with their daughters.
However, Ron explained that a judge ruled in favor of allowing Brooklynn, his sole biological daughter, to relocate to Missouri with him.
“After the judge’s ruling allowed me to leave with Brooklynn, she realized she no longer had any means to manipulate me, so she chose to eliminate them,” he further explained
As an act of twisted vengeance, Veronica Youngblood fatally shot her daughters while they were sleeping in their McLean apartment on August 5th, after having administered sedatives to them.
Brooklynn, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, tragically passed away at the scene, while Sharon, who was hit in the chest and back, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The teenager successfully dialed 911 and informed the dispatcher that her mother, who was unwell, had been the one who fired the shots.
Following the distressing 911 call played during the two-week trial, the jurors were deeply affected and requested the possibility of receiving therapy to cope with the emotional impact.
While her older daughter was in a critical condition, Veronica Youngblood phoned her former spouse to express her hatred for him and to confess that she had shot their children.
“She managed to do the one thing that could truly inflict pain on me, a goal she had been pursuing for years, and unfortunately, she succeeded when she took the lives of my daughters,” Ron Youngblood remarked.
He also mentioned that he had no inkling that his ex-wife, who had acquired the firearm just nine days before the tragic homicides, would resort to killing her own children.
Her plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, in which her attorney argued that the Argentinian native heard voices, was ultimately dismissed by the court.
Ron Youngblood expressed his belief that the judge would hand down the harshest sentence, yet even with his ex-wife facing a lifetime behind bars, he will forever grieve the loss of his daughters.
