According to a report by Newsmax on Sunday, December 3, 2023, former President Donald Trump has a strong chance of winning the 2024 presidential election if he decides to run, as per a pollster who worked for his campaign.
Jim McLaughlin, a Republican strategist and pollster who conducted surveys for Trump’s 2020 campaign, said that Trump has “big advantages” on the issues that matter most to Americans, such as the economy, immigration, national security, and energy.
“When you look at the issues that voters care about, most of these issues like the economy, inflation, crime, and immigration, and Joe Biden’s negatives, his disapproval rating is well over 60%,” McLaughlin said.
“And then when you compare him versus President Trump, President Trump is significantly ahead of him.”, he added.
McLaughlin said that Trump’s policies were popular and effective, and that he was able to expand his base of support among minorities, women, and working-class voters.
He also said that Trump’s approval rating among Republicans is “sky-high”, and that he is the “clear leader” of the party.
McLaughlin cited a recent poll by his firm, McLaughlin & Associates, that showed that 57% of likely voters would prefer Trump over President Joe Biden if the 2024 election were held today.
The poll also found that 83% of Republicans, 22% of Democrats, and 51% of independents would vote for Trump.
McLaughlin said that Biden’s low approval rating, which has dropped below 40% in some polls, is a result of his “failed policies” on inflation, crime, foreign policy, and the border crisis.
He said that Biden is “out of touch” with the American people, and that he is “losing the middle” of the electorate.
McLaughlin also said that Trump has a “great message” for 2024, which is to “make America great again, again”.
He said that Trump can contrast his record of success with Biden’s record of failure, and that he can offer a “positive vision” for the future of the country.
McLaughlin said that he does not know if Trump will run in 2024, but that he hopes he will.
He said that Trump is the “best candidate” to defeat Biden, and that he has the “energy, enthusiasm, and excitement” to mobilize the voters.
McLaughlin is not the only pollster who thinks that Trump has a good chance of winning in 2024.
John McLaughlin, his brother and partner at McLaughlin & Associates, who also worked for Trump’s campaign, said in November that Trump would win in a landslide if he ran against Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris.
John McLaughlin said that Trump has a “loyal base” of supporters who are “ready to go” for 2024, and that he can attract new voters who are dissatisfied with the Biden administration.
He also said that Trump can capitalize on the “buyer’s remorse” that many Americans feel after voting for Biden.
