Police officials said that both parents, David and Angel, were taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including: neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury and neglect of a dependent — placing dependent in an endangering situation.
The baby’s aunt, Delaina, was also arrested and charged with neglect — placing dependent in an endangering situation. According to the statement, the 6-month-old baby nearly died after being eaten alive by rats.
The poor child reportedly suffered dozens of bites from the rodents. Police officials said that many of the bites reportedly went all the way down to the bone.
On Sept. 13, 2023, officers responded after the 911 caller told the dispatcher that a baby needs emergency medical attention. The father called 911 and reportedly told the dispatcher that he reportedly found his baby son covered in bl00d. The father also said that the baby’s fingers appeared to have been chewed off.
First responders arrived on scene and rushed the baby to the hospital. Doctors told investigators that the baby suffered a near fatal event and needed a blood transfusion after almost going into shock. The doctors reportedly revealed that the baby had more than 50 bites to his forehead, cheek, and nose alone. Police officials later revealed that the 6-month-old baby was missing fIesh from all four fingers and thumb on his right hand, exposing bone on all five fingertips.
The index and pinky fingers were reportedly missing the fIesh halfway down each finger. The chid suffered additional bites to his arms, legs, feet, and toes. His internal body temperature was about 93 and his blood pressure was 50/30 when he arrived at the hospital.
Doctors also said that the baby lost so much bl00d that he had to have blood transfusion. Unfortunately, several fingers had to be amputated, police officials said. When investigators asked the parents how they could possibly allow this to happen to their baby, they reportedly replied because ‘they did not hear the child cry.’
