The Biden regime’s war on American energy and devotion to the radical left climate cult has ratcheted up before Trump is scheduled to take office next month.
As Fox News reported, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final report on Thursday related to how it was enforcing ‘climate change’ penalties against ordinary Americans and businesses. In the process, the Regime revealed it made some chilling history.
The EPA stated in their report that back in March, they arrested San Diego resident Michael Hart in March, charging him under the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act with “smuggling potent greenhouse gases” across the Mexican border and proceeding to sell them online. The charges marked the first-ever arrest in America related to ‘climate change’ penalties.
Hart pleaded guilty to the charge in September. The EPA said this would “not be the last” such arrest related to climate alarmism.
U.S. Attorney Tara McGrath asininely claimed that such arrests were necessary to save Earth, ignoring more glaring examples of pollution such as private usage by leftist celebrities and government officials.
“We are using every means possible to protect our planet from the harm caused by toxic pollutants, including bringing criminal charges,” she said.
Fox News notes that the AIM Act requires the agency to reduce hydrofluorocarbons, a synthetic compound commonly used for refrigeration or air conditioning, by 85 percent by 2036. The legislation passed as part of a government spending bill in December 2020, one month before Biden assumed power.
Since 2017, the Biden regime’s EPA has set a record for the most prosecutions related to climate charges. In 2024 alone, 121 criminal defendants were charged with so-called climate crimes, with more than 1,850 civil cases concluded.
There are still roughly 480 open criminal investigations on environmental programs, according to Fox News.
David M. Uhlmann, the assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, released a statement bragging about the massive increase in prosecutions.
“In Fiscal Year 2024, EPA’s enforcement and compliance assurance program produced its strongest results since 2017, focusing on efforts to combat climate change and tackling some of the nation’s most significant environmental threats to our shared air, water, and land,” he said. “The progress made under the Biden-Harris Administration has sent a clear signal that polluters will be held accountable and that protecting communities from harm is a top priority.”
One can only hope President-elect Trump will make good on his promises to drain the swamp and dismantle the administrative state. Like Hart, thousands, if not millions of Americans have been persecuted under Biden’s rule for bogus crimes. Many have spent years in prison just waiting for their day in court.
Fortunately, Trump is assembling a great team to put an end to this weaponization of government and will benefit in the process from recent Supreme Court rulings.
