Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) asserted during an appearance on KTTV-LA’s “News at 6 PM” on Wednesday that former President Donald Trump exhibited signs of a “cognitive disorder.”
Pelosi’s comments were prompted by Trump’s statements at a campaign rally where he mentioned Nikki Haley and claimed that vital information had been destroyed. According to Trump, he had offered ten thousand troops to address security concerns, but the offer was reportedly declined.
Pelosi, however, took issue with Trump’s assertions, emphasizing that she believed his verbal missteps were not mere slips of the tongue. She argued that Trump was not just momentarily confusing names but was actively making a case. More significantly, Pelosi contended that Trump’s false claim about the rejection of troop assistance was not only inaccurate but also dangerous.
In Pelosi’s account, she detailed how Trump’s refusal to deploy the National Guard during a critical time contributed to hours of suffering, with over 100 police officers injured and casualties reported. She implicated not only Trump but also key figures in his administration, specifically pointing to the Secretary of the Army and the Acting Secretary of Defense.
Furthermore, Pelosi accused Trump of not only inciting an insurrection but also perpetuating falsehoods regarding the National Guard’s involvement. She argued that these actions had caused significant harm to the nation and emphasized that no one, not even a former president, should be immune from accountability under the law.
Pelosi concluded her remarks by expressing her belief that Trump should face consequences for his actions, asserting that he should be held accountable and should be prohibited from re-entering the White House for any purpose. The overarching message conveyed by Pelosi was one of condemnation for Trump’s alleged role in the events surrounding the Capitol riot, emphasizing the gravity of his actions and the need for accountability.
