Recent financial disclosures from Donald Trump’s Save America PAC have unveiled substantial spending on legal fees and intriguing payments to Melania Trump’s long-time stylist, Herve Pierre Braillard. The filing indicates that the PAC has disbursed $27 million to cover the former president’s legal expenses, leading to concerns about the impact on the overall financial health of the PAC.
Notably, since July of the previous year, more than $100,000 has been funneled to Herve Pierre Braillard for “strategy consulting.” In August, reports surfaced about Braillard receiving $108,000 in fees, and the latest filing reveals that these payments have continued, despite concerns about the PAC’s dwindling fundraising capabilities.
In August, CNBC reported a drop in fundraising by the Trump PAC, suggesting a potential decline in the small-dollar donor operation that had previously fueled the political fundraising efforts of the former president and his allies. At that time, the PAC reportedly had only $3.6 million in the bank.
MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin highlighted the recent filing on social media, drawing attention to the ongoing payments to Herve Pierre Braillard for “strategy consulting.” A screenshot from the filing showed monthly payouts of $18,000, with an additional $2,500 in December.
While Trump’s Save America PAC still possesses considerable funds and the ability to raise more, the growing expenditure on legal matters poses a significant challenge as the former president enters the election year. The diversion of resources towards addressing legal issues may impact the PAC’s ability to focus on campaign activities, potentially leading to further financial strain.
As Politico reports, Trump’s legal spending reflects a substantial portion of his resources being directed towards resolving legal challenges, a trend that is expected to persist and continue being costly. The financial disclosures provide insight into the intricate details of PAC spending, shedding light on both the significant legal fees and the unique payments to Melania Trump’s stylist.
