Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis, known for her staunch support of the former president throughout his tenure, has made headlines once again, this time for a surprising change in her stance.
The Hill reported on Friday, September 15 that in a radio show appearance, Ellis publicly declared that she could not back Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election, despite being an ardent advocate in his previous two campaigns.
Speaking candidly on her radio show, Ellis conveyed her personal struggle, saying, “I know [Trump] well as a friend and a former boss, I have great love and respect for him personally. I simply can’t support him for elected office again. Why I have chosen to distance is because of that frankly malignant, narcissistic tendency to say that he’s never done anything wrong.”
Ellis’s revelation comes in the midst of a sprawling Georgia racketeering case involving 18 individuals, including Trump himself, over allegations that the former president led an attempt to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.
Ellis had represented the Trump campaign in legal challenges against the 2020 election results nationwide.
This dramatic change in her stance is not the first instance of political flip-flopping for Ellis. Prior to the 2016 election, she had openly criticized Trump, branding him an “idiot” and a “bully.”
However, she later reversed her position, actively supporting his campaigns in both 2016 and 2020.
The radio show, initially reported by Media Matters, also saw Ellis criticize Trump’s supporters, accusing them of practicing “idolatry” by prioritizing loyalty to the former president over their core values.

She emphasized the need for Americans, conservatives, and Christians to reflect on where they place their votes.
In a further twist, Ellis admitted to misrepresenting claims related to election fraud in the 2020 election, leading to a legal censure from the Colorado State Bar.
Despite this, she remains steadfast in her defense, characterizing the legal actions against her as a form of criminalization of the practice of law. Ellis expressed her resolution to “trust the Lord” in the face of legal challenges.
Jenna Ellis’s unexpected stance shift and candid criticisms have sparked controversy and debate among Trump supporters and the broader political community.
As the 2024 presidential election draws nearer, her decision not to support the former president will undoubtedly be a topic of continued discussion and speculation.
