According to Daily Mail on Thursday, August 31, 2023, Danelo Cavalcante, a 34-year-old convicted murderer from Brazil, escaped from the Chester County Prison in Pocopson Township, Pennsylvania on Thursday morning.
Cavalcante had just been sentenced to life in prison on August 21st for the 2021 fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend, Deborah Brandao.
Police have launched an urgent manhunt and described Cavalcante as “extremely dangerous.”
He is 5 feet tall and only 120 pounds. Police urge the public to stay away from him and call 911 if they spot him.
Cavalcante was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, grey shorts, and white sneakers
He was spotted walking along a side street about 3 miles from the prison around 8:30 AM on the day he escaped.
Cavalcante stabbed Brandao over 30 times with a kitchen knife during an argument at her home in 2021.
At the time, Brandao had just discovered Cavalcante was wanted for another murder in Brazil and threatened to report him to the police.
During his recent trial, prosecutors portrayed Cavalcante as an abusive and controlling boyfriend who killed Brandao to silence her.
Two of Cavalcante’s friends testified against him during the trial.
The jury convicted him of first-degree murder on August 16th after only a few hours of deliberation.
In a recorded confession, Cavalcante admitted there was no reason for killing Brandao. He claimed their relationship was toxic and turbulent.
District Attorney Deborah Ryan said it’s unclear how Cavalcante managed to escape from the prison just a week after being jailed for life.
Police are searching extensively for the convicted murderer and warn he is capable of extreme violence.

Cavalcante’s sudden disappearance has raised concerns about security measures at the Chester County Prison.
The public is advised not to approach Cavalcante if spotted and immediately contact law enforcement.
Cavalcante has a history of domestic violence and already evaded law enforcement for some time after killing Brandao in 2021.
His escape comes as a shock just weeks after his sentencing.
Police urge anyone who knows of Cavalcante’s whereabouts to come forward immediately so he can be apprehended.
The search continues for this dangerous felon who police say poses a severe public threat after his prison break
