Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, recently experienced another “swatting” incident at her home in Rome, Georgia, on Christmas Day. This marked the eighth time she has been targeted by such incidents.
A person based in Rome, New York, called a suicide hotline, claiming that they had shot their girlfriend at Greene’s address in Georgia and threatened to kill as reported by The Gateway Pundit on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
The Rome Police Department quickly verified that the call was a hoax and did not send officers to the scene.
Greene’s security team decided that officers did not need to respond to her home, and the police response was canceled.
The congresswoman has previously been the victim of swatting incidents, including false reports of shootings outside her home.
Greene represents Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, covering the cities of Rome, Dalton, and Calhoun.
In addition to the swatting attempt, Greene reported receiving death threats. She shared a screenshot of a death threat she purportedly received on social media.
Greene has claimed that left-wing activists staged similar attacks by placing 911 calls. The criminal investigations division is working to determine the source of the threats.
This latest incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by public figures, especially those who embrace controversial views or are involved in high-profile cases.
The swatting attempts and death threats target not only the individual but also their families and loved ones, causing distress and disruption during holidays and other special occasions.
