Missouri State Senator Bill Eigel has taken steps to introduce legislation aiming to exclude President Joe Biden from the state’s 2024 ballot.
This action follows the recent exclusion of former President Donald Trump from the ballots in Colorado and Maine as reported by Conservative Brief on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Eigel’s announcement came through a social media statement where he unveiled his intention to present a bill that would prevent Biden from appearing on Missouri’s ballot.
The senator invoked actions taken in 33 states against Trump, citing them as a basis for his proposed measure.
“In the wake of formal efforts in 33 states to remove President Donald J. Trump from the ballot, State Senator Bill Eigel will be putting forth legislation that would disqualify Biden from the ballot in Missouri,” stated Eigel.
Eigel, who concurrently seeks the governorship of Missouri, did not hold back, asserting that Biden should be disqualified for allegedly providing “aid and comfort” to adversaries.
He emphasized the Biden administration’s handling of border security as a primary reason for seeking Biden’s disqualification.
“By the Democrats’ own standard, Joe Biden should be immediately disqualified and removed from the ballot for the ‘aid and comfort’ he has given our enemies,” Eigel stated, pointing specifically to the administration’s approach to immigration.
“Our country is being invaded because Joe Biden has swung our southern border wide open,” Eigel continued. “President Biden has allowed more than 8 million people to stroll across our border illegally, causing more harm to this country than any other president in American history.”
The senator also criticized the decisions made by Colorado and Maine to exclude Trump from their ballots, labeling them as absurd and accusing the left of perpetuating falsehoods to obstruct Trump’s candidacy.
“My legislation exposes the absolute absurdity of Colorado’s and Maine’s decisions to remove President Donald J. Trump from the ballot,” Eigel remarked. “If radical leftists continue to push lies and fairytales in an attempt to kick Trump off the ballot in their states, Republicans have no choice but to buck up and fight back — using the facts to remove Biden from the ballot before he destroys this country even further.”
Eigel’s proposal has ignited a new wave of controversy, reflecting the deeply divided political climate in the United States.
The move shows the intersection of state-level legislation and federal election procedures, raising pertinent questions about the scope of state authority in determining presidential ballot access.
The bill is poised to generate debates concerning constitutional interpretations, partisan motivations, and the role of state lawmakers in influencing national elections.
The proposal signifies a continuation of the highly polarized atmosphere that has characterized American politics in recent years.
