Donald Trump currently has his name involved in anything that has a problem. This time around it’s the mass shooting that happened in 2015 in South Carolina, a day after Trump launched his first campaign. Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) on Sunday spoke with CNN’s Jake Tapper and tried to connect the dots around this mass shooting.
The Democrat spoke with Tapper on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday about the 2024 campaign. He talked about the church where Biden will be speaking on Monday. Mother Emanuel in Charleston, SC was the site of a 2015 shooting. A white supremacist intended to go on a race war and killed nine Black churchgoers at a Bible study. It led to the removal of the Confederate flag from the state capitol grounds.
Tapper didn’t think that it was connected to Trump, but Jim Clyburn thought otherwise. Jake Tapper said that, “Donald Trump had barely launched his campaign when that attack happened.” Mediaite reports that Jim Clyburn had valid input on why this was interconnected. He said, “I think it is very clear that Donald Trump’s utterances way back, before Charlottesville, or at the time of Charlottesville, ties him to what happened at Mother Emanuel.”
Jim continued his statement by saying, “The fact of the matter is, that young man went into that church’s basement, joined with those worshipers in Bible study, and murdered them. And he said at the time that he was attempting to create a race war.” He even went ahead and shared some more moments from Donald Trump’s statment on the situation.
Jim said, “Donald Trump looked at those people in Charlottesville and said that there were good people on both sides, and those people were uttering things like, Jews will not replace us. That is a religion. The A.M.E. church, that Emmanuel, that is religion. And Donald Trump has said things in support of those activities.”
Donald Trump has not said anything on the situation at this time. He has a lot to unpack as there’s a lot happening in his road to the White House. No one can expect what will happen next because Donald Trump has things in different directions at this time. The fact of the matter is that everything is against him. Trump will have to get many things in order before he can claim to be the winner of the 2024 Presidential elections.
