In a recent interview on Newsmax, national security expert Fred Fleitz expressed concerns about the state of global affairs and the potential exploitation of perceived weaknesses in President Joe Biden’s leadership as reported by Newsmax on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
According to Fleitz, adversaries around the world are likely to escalate aggressions in 2024, anticipating the possibility of Biden’s defeat in the upcoming November election and the return of former President Donald Trump to the White House.
During his appearance on “Saturday Agenda,” Fleitz highlighted ongoing challenges in the Middle East, particularly pointing to Iran-backed militias attacking U.S. troops with impunity.
He emphasized that since the beginning of the Biden administration, there have been approximately 200 attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria, with over 100 occurring since October 7.
Fleitz noted that the responses to these attacks have been limited, describing them as “pinprick airstrikes.”
Focusing on the actions of Houthi rebels, Fleitz pointed out their missile and drone attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Israel.
Despite the formation of a naval coalition to counter these threats, the Houthi rebels have disregarded these efforts.
Fleitz attributed the activities of both the Houthis and the militias in Iraq and Syria to Iran’s backing, highlighting a perceived lack of deterrence and respect for the United States under Biden’s leadership.
“I think in 2024, we’re going to see American adversaries around the world racing to take advantage of Biden’s weakness because they believe Biden may be defeated next November and will be succeeded by a much more competent and decisive president, which my hope is will be Donald Trump,” Fleitz stated during the interview.
The assessment provided by Fleitz raises concerns about the effectiveness of the current administration’s approach to handling global challenges and maintaining deterrence.
The interview reflects a perspective that the perceived vulnerabilities in Biden’s leadership might embolden adversaries to test the limits and take advantage of what is seen as a lack of assertiveness on the part of the United States.
As the world watches geopolitical developments unfold, the comments from Fred Fleitz show the importance of strategic leadership in navigating international relations and safeguarding national interests.
The anticipation of a shift in leadership dynamics in 2024 adds a layer of complexity to the geopolitical setting, emphasizing the need for a robust and proactive approach to address evolving threats and maintain global stability.
The concerns raised by Fleitz open a dialogue about the critical intersection of national security, foreign policy, and domestic politics
