On Christmas Eve, former President Donald Trump took to his personal social media platform to unleash a series of all-caps rants, targeting political adversaries and rehashing conspiracy theories.
However, the expected surge in engagement from his supporters seemed muted, as ordinary people across the country celebrated the festive evening with family, friends, or participated in traditional Christmas activities, as reported by RawStory on Sunday, December 24.
Trump’s first post, a rambling diatribe laden with conspiracy theories, included references to “Crooked Joe Biden,” “Crazy Nancy Pelosi,” and an unusual addition, “Deranged Jack Smith.”
The former president demanded the prosecution of the House Select Committee that investigated the 2020 election and the January 6 attack, accusing them of “destroying and deleting all of their evidence.”
Despite a previous judicial ruling stating there was no evidence destruction, Trump persisted in his claims. The slow “re-truth” rate and apparent lack of likes on his initial post did not deter him, leading to a subsequent all-caps rant attacking the House Select Committee for the same alleged actions.
Approximately 30 minutes after the initial post, and 15 minutes after the first all-caps rant, Trump continued his tirade with another all-caps status targeting Biden and once again labeling Jack Smith as “deranged.” Throughout his posts, Trump maintained his familiar narrative of victimhood and persecution.
The social media spectacle concluded with Trump declaring, “IT’S CALLED ELECTION INTERFERENCE. MERRY CHRISTMAS!” Despite the unconventional approach, this strategy seemed effective in mobilizing his core supporters, evident in the higher engagement levels on the all-caps posts compared to the lengthy diatribe.
Notably, Trump’s subsequent share of an outdated poll and apparent withdrawal from the internet hinted at a strategic pivot or a potential recognition of the limited impact of his Christmas Eve rant.
This online outburst followed Trump’s 2023 Christmas message, in which he asserted that divine intervention would secure his victory in the 2024 elections. The juxtaposition of these messages highlighted the duality of Trump’s approach, oscillating between legal challenges and appeals to a higher power.
