President Joe Biden is facing criticism after recent documents revealed that Ashley Biden, the president’s youngest daughter, currently has an unpaid income tax bill amounting to $5,000, dating back to 2015.
According to a report by Fox News on Monday, December 18, 2023, a tax lien docket was obtained by Fox News Digital, shedding light on the matter and prompting fresh scrutiny of the Biden family’s financial affairs.
A tax lien, a legal claim imposed due to unpaid taxes, was issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in Philadelphia County on December 1, 2023.
The notice reportedly states that the “amount of such unpaid tax, interest, additions or penalties is a lien in favor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania upon the taxpayer’s property – real, personal, or both – as the case may be.”
The specified period for the unpaid taxes begins on January 1, 2015, during Joe Biden’s vice-presidential tenure, and extends until January 1, 2021, just before he assumed the presidency.
Garrett Ziegler, founder of the nonprofit organization Marco Polo and a former aide to Donald Trump, expressed his concerns in an interview with Fox News Digital.
Ziegler criticized Biden, highlighting the contrast between his rhetoric on wealthy individuals not paying their fair share and the apparent tax troubles of both his children.
While acknowledging that Ashley’s case is not on the scale of her brother Hunter’s controversies, Ziegler emphasized the importance of prudence, especially for the first family.
“The scale is not anything like Hunter, but… Joe is constantly talking about how wealthy and connected people do not pay their fair share and can’t afford to pay more, and it just so happens that both of his living children did not pay their taxes,” Ziegler said.
“This is just another example of the Bidens being careless. Like, you’d think that they would show a little bit more prudence when you’re the first when you’re the American first family to make sure you don’t have any tax liens on you, especially going into an election year.”
Ziegler, known for founding the website BidenLaptopMedia.com, which contains a trove of photos from Hunter’s controversial laptop, claimed that the discovery of Ashley’s tax lien was part of routine research conducted in the Philadelphia County courthouse system.
Despite his association with a website that has been critical of the Biden family, Ziegler asserted that he and his team are not Republican activists.
“So this is not a hit job. We’re going to keep all the photos that paint the Bidens in a good light and keep all the photos that paint the Bidens in a bad light,” he noted.
“The American people can judge for themselves what they think about their first family through this.”
