Former President Donald Trump is set to overshadow the upcoming GOP primary debate once again, announcing a townhall-style event with Fox News host Sean Hannity in Davenport, Iowa, scheduled for Tuesday night.
This strategically timed event will precede the NewsNation-hosted GOP debate on Wednesday, moderated by Elizabeth Vargas, Megyn Kelly, and Eliana Johnson.
The GOP debate is expected to have a reduced field compared to the August gathering, with likely participants including Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy.
As reported by the Conservative Brief on Monday, December 4, 2023, Chris Christie’s qualification remains uncertain, according to Deadline
Trump has notably avoided participating in the three prior debates, citing his significant lead in the polls as a reason for his absence, despite encouragement from figures like Chris Christie for him to attend.
Last month, former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich commented on global elections, suggesting a weariness with far-left ideologies.
He characterized the global movement as a rejection of left-wing radical and socialist values.
Gingrich expressed a belief in the desperation of the left, stating, “We’ve never seen this, maybe the South in 1860. Other than that, I have never seen this level of desperation in American politics and it will get worse.”
He argued that the left is facing challenges with a candidate they view as hopeless (referring to President Joe Biden) and an opponent (Trump) gaining strength
Discussing the left’s challenges, Gingrich mentioned their perceived radical isolation, losing support from African Americans, Latinos, and, in recent polls, young Americans and Asian Americans.
He attributed this shift to the left’s perceived incompetence in addressing issues like fentanyl, crime, the cost of living, and immigration.
In a provocative prediction, Gingrich suggested that a reasonable Democratic Party would insist on Biden stepping down.
He noted the absence of such a Democratic Party and highlighted the challenge of replacing Biden with Kamala Harris, citing the party’s dynamics around race and gender.
As Trump strategically plans an event with Hannity, the political landscape continues to be marked by polarization and internal party dynamics, setting the stage for a high-stakes GOP primary debate
